Drifting is a relatively new sport to Australia. Winton has held drifting events in the past with Full Lock, VicDrift, and Drift Australia. Winton is considered one of the best drifting venues in Australia. This high action style of motorsport is catching on fast and many people are becoming involved with drifting. It is one of the more spectacular events with competitors getting their cars sideways with plenty of smoke coming off the tyres as they attack corners at seemingly impossible angles.

Crowds are warming to drifting as more of the muscle car types start to become involved against the Japanese imports that have previously dominated the event.

In 2006 it was interesting to see some of the burnouts competitors having a go at this varitation to their usual event.
